Pure Ice It's Complicated and Zoya Venus Sandwich

This is Pure Ice It's Complicated sandwiched between layers of Zoya Venus. I started by wearing Zoya Venus, 3 coats.  Then a few days later I added a coat of Pure Ice It's Complicated and another coat of Zoya Venus. 
Pure Ice It's Complicated is a mix of several jewel toned colors of hexagon shaped glitter with some silver glitter mixed in.  It applies very nicely.  It isn't too thick, you don't have to fish for glitter, the glitter applies evenly.  I bought this glitter mostly to do jelly sandwiches, but it is nice when not topped with another polish too.  Without another polish over it, it has a birthday party feel to it.  Fun.

Mint Green and Lavender Gradient

This is Essie Nice is Nice as the base (Lavender) with a Wet 'n Wild Megalast Garden Hose (mint green) gradient sponged over the top.  Then I added a layer of Pure Ice Mint Dreams which adds a mint green iridescence and helps blend the gradient.  My manicure looks more green from some angles then in the picture. 

Pure Ice Private Show

This is Pure Ice Private Show.  Before I say anything else about this polish, I should let you know that it chipped in less then 2 days.  I'm hoping it will wear better layered over another black polish or as a pedicure.

The second picture gives you a better idea of how lovely this polish is when the light hits it, although this picture doesn't do it justice at all.  I haven't figured out how to capture glitter polishes in pictures.  I don't wear a lot of glitter and I don't really wear black polish, but I was completely in love with this polish until it chipped.  Private Show took 4 coats to be opaque and 2 coats of top coat to achieve a smooth finish.  It was glittery and pretty while it lasted.  :(
Edit:  I wear one coat of Private Show over Wet 'n Wild Black Creme and it wears just fine and looks the same. 

Happy St. Patrick's Day

This is Wet 'n Wild Garden Hose topped with Pure Ice Mint Dreams and Finger Paints Go Van Gogh for the shamrocks.  The garden hose link has a pic of Garden Hose alone at the bottom of the page.  The pic below shows Pure Ice Mint Dreams over Garden Hose.  Mint Dreams adds a green iridescent finish to any polish it is layered over.  This combo reminds me of glow in the dark stickers in daylight, but greener.  Sometimes I like it, sometimes I think it is a bit much. 
I used a dotting tool to make the shamrocks.  The large shamrock on my ring finger was a fail on both hands.  I won't do it next year.  If you want to try one, it is basically four heart shapes joined in the center.  I find the medium size dotting tool makes the best normal sized shamrocks. 

Finger Paints A Tough Art to Follow with Pure Ice Heartbreaker.

This is the first of my green manicures for St. Patrick's Day.  It is Finger Paints A Tough Art to Follow topped with one coat of Pure Ice Heartbreaker.  Click the link to see a picture of A Tough Art to Follow alone.  Heartbreaker is a sheer turquoise with green microglitter.  My picture doesn't show it, but it made my nails positively glow.  I looked like I lived in the Emerald City. 

Rimmel Mignight Blue and Essie Trophy Wife Gradient

This is the last manicure in my Rimmel Midnight Blue manicure evolution.  I added shimmer one day and did matte/shiny stamping the next day and then did the one pictured above.  If I were to start from scratch with this manicure, the shimmer would not go all the way to the cuticles, but would also be a gradient.  I used Essie Trophy Wife and Pure Ice Oh Baby (teal glass fleck shimmer that shifts to fuchsia at some angles).  I used a make-up sponge to apply Trophy Wife.  I like this one.  I'll definitely do it again. 

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue

This is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue.  The Make-up Ally Nail Board picked their top 20 polishes in December and this one was on the list.  The color that won was a different brand, but the exact same color.  When they counted all the similar colors as one color, this color won.  Similar colors include Butter London Baker Street and Essie Butler Please.  My point being, this is the color of the moment and all the cool kids are wearing it.  :)  It looks especially chic on short nails.  It is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I like it.  The color applies a bit darker and brighter then in the bottle.  Xtreme wears slightly less then O.K. for me, 4 days (I get 6-7 with other polishes).  Sally Hansen Xtreme wear is $2.50 a bottle.  I'll add that this is the stinkiest polish I own.  It smells like nail polish mixed with sulfur (rotten egg smell).

I added Pure Ice Heartbreaker over the top.  Heartbreaker is green micro glitter in a sheer blue/green base.  One coat gave my polish subtle shimmer, two coats was perfect for my taste.  It gave Pacific Blue a sort of turquoise feel. My sad pictures do this pretty manicure no justice.   Heartbreaker is great layered over blue and green polish (and likely other colors too).  I'm not as totally enamored with this Pure Ice sheer overlay polish as I am with other Pure Ice sheer overlays (like Pure Ice Busted, which is one of my all time favorite polishes), but I still really like it.  It is definitely worth the 2$ price tag at Walmart.

Pure Ice Mint Dream over Essie Nice is Nice

This is a coat of Pure Ice Mint Dream over Essie Nice is Nice which is a lavender cream polish.  Mint Dream adds a green flash/duochrome/pearl look to any pale polish.  Mint Dream is great over pastel polishes, but not great over dark polishes.  In real life, the green flash is more prominent the in the picture.  In fact, it is a bit too prominent to make this the perfect polish.  It would be perfect if it looked like it does in the above pic.  My nails sort of have an icy teal look much of the time with the green and purple combining.  That is good too, but I'd prefer it if my nails always looked like the above pic.  That being said, it is a fantastic polish and I don't know of any other polish like it.  If you are interested, run, don't walk, to Walmart to pick up your own 2$ bottle.  It was discontinued the first of the year, but there is probably still a bottle or two to be found at your Walmart.  Mint Dream is also great over mint green polish.

OPI My Auntie Drinks Cianti and Pure Ice Busted

This is two coats of OPI My Auntie Drinks Chainti topped with two coats of Pure Ice Busted (2$ at Walmart).  These pics do not capture this manicure accurately at all.  It is a more grape color in person.  Also, there is a ton of micro pink shimmer that doesn't seem to show up in the pictures.  That is a shame, because the pink micro pink glitter is so pretty. 

Pure Ice Busted is a very shear blue base with tons of pink micro glitter.  My cousin turned me on to this cool nail polish color.  It is best layered over other polishes.  I've swatched it over a dark purple and a blue polish and it looks great with those colors.  Busted shimmers like crazy in the sunlight.  Too bad I don't have the photography skills to capture it properly.
